Since everyone’s talking about it, here’s the fight scene from the show “Gotham” in episode 10:

Although there’s some boxing (and a training scene in which Alfred coaches some boxing with old leather gloves), some stick fighting and a drop throw at the end, let’s not get carried away and call this Bartitsu.

I admit we can’t say much about historicity in a fictional universe, Alfred would have been trained in boxing and fencing well after the era of Bartitsu. Remember that many arts used stick fighting, and Bartitsu itself is composed of other arts. The actual integration of the skills into Bartitsu wasn’t taught after 1903, as far as we can tell. Alfred doesn’t show the integration of the arts, and his escape from the choke is not jujitsu-like. Bartitsu is more than punch-kick-throw with the addition of some walking stick for flavour.

Still, this makes me want to watch the show more…
