The Best (in a narrow category)
The Georgia Straight, a Vancouver weekly newspaper has released their annual Best of Vancouver issue. To my great surprise, we had a featured photo in the paper and online.
Best Victorian art of self-defence
What could be better suited to life in Vancouver than warding off attackers with an umbrella? Get your Sherlock Holmes on with a four-hour introduction to Bartitsu, the gentlemanly art of kicking arse, first practised in Victorian England by cane-wielding chaps but perfectly adaptable to wet-weather-ready Vancouverites. The next Umbrella Self Defense workshop (“fend off ruffians and rapscallions”) runs Saturday (September 25) at Academie Duello (412 West Hastings Street). Call 604-568-9907 to register and get info on upcoming classes.

By the way, our next Umbrella Self-Defence workshop will be in November, 2010. See the Academie Duello site for details. We also have an ongoing Bartitsu class that I teach on Saturdays 3pm-5pm which includes these skills and more.
